We realise not everyone is in a position to adopt a companion, so why not take a look at our virtual adoption scheme …..
When Thumbelina came into our care, via the RSPCA Inspectors, she was in a terrible state. The RSPCA had provided financial support in getting her to the vets while still in her owner’s care; she was meant to have an operation for bladder stone removal … a month later she still hadn’t had it done!
Her owner said she’s been fine but, when they signed her over and she arrived in kennels, she was urinating blood. She was badly matted, needed a dental and we had her spayed. All this was done straight away, she’d have been in so much pain, but all is now well and she’s looking for her new home!
As we’re a volunteer run branch without our own facilities, we rent several kennels at a rehoming centre in Chesterfield ; we’re covering Thumbelina’s veterinary costs too.
