We realise not everyone is in a position to adopt a companion, so why not take a look at our
virtual adoption scheme …..
Michael and Tiffin have had a long and difficult journey. They came from a really terrible and disgusting home, where so many cats and kittens were neglected so badly; a house of horrors. The owner has successfully been prosecuted. After months of tender loving care, of waiting for the case to be over, they are now ready to find that special person or couple who can help these boys overcome their trauma furthermore.
They would benefit from a quiet, child and pet free home where they can flourish. A home where, eventually, they can explore the outdoors, feel the grass under their paws, feel the sun on their faces, the breeze in their fur, and run and play their little legs off!
These two boys originally arrived separately, we learnt they had been very close so we reunited them in one of our foster homes, thinking they’d find comfort in each other, unfortunately after a few weeks stay they were still traumatised and didn’t interact with each other. No fault of the foster, of course – they did great!
So were then taken to the cattery, kept in separate pens. On arrival they were very shut down and wouldn’t make eye contact, only coming out of their beds at night to eat and use the litter tray. After a few days, they both began to cautiously venture out of their beds to eat Dreamies and Lick-e-Lix and we began the slow process of building their confidence by doing this each day – please see the videos. With a lot of patience and time, they had both became much more settled but we then had a new quandary……. both of them were now chatting to each other across the corridor! It was decided that we would try reuniting them and they have been together ever since! Michael absolutely loves his brother and will follow Tiffin around giving him head bumps. Tiffin likes Michael too but would appreciate if his brother had a bit more of an idea of ‘personal space’! It is lovely to see how confident they are now and are quite happy to be in your company. They are very playful young cats. They both greet you with tails up and LOVE their food. Tiffin is a faster eater so you have to watch that he doesn’t then push Michael out of the way and eat his food too! They will tolerate a head stroke while eating but are still weary about being touched but I’m sure that this will come more with time. Michael arrived with a bit of a snuffly nose which has improved greatly but he can still have the occasional flare up. They have been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.
They might be quite unsure of new people at first but given the chance, they will show themselves to be loving and affectionate cats..
